CrownQuote

Editorial Policy

This page explains how CrownQuote researches, writes and checks its content — so readers can see what stands behind every article.

How we research

Every article starts with research into the topic: what readers are actually looking for, and what already exists on the subject. We look at how other collections cover the topic and what they leave out, so our article adds something — a clearer structure, more useful sections, or lines written for the specific occasion — rather than repeating what is already there.

How we verify quotes

For articles about quotes, we collect verified real quotations first, from primary sources: books, speeches, letters, interviews and poems. A name is attached to a quote only when the source has been checked. Listings on quote-aggregation sites alone are not verification — if a quote can only be traced to an aggregator, we do not present it as verified. When a real quote cannot be verified, we either label it as attributed or leave it out.

Attribution labels

Our articles use three kinds of attribution, and they mean different things:

  • — Name: a real, verified quote. The source was checked before publishing.
  • — Attributed to Name: a line that circulates widely under this name, but whose original source we could not verify. It is presented as attributed, not as confirmed.
  • No label: an original line written for the article. It is not a quotation from anyone, so it carries no name.

Original lines

Wishes and captions are written for the reader to use — to send, post or share. Those lines are original, written for the occasion, and they carry no attribution because they are not borrowed from anyone. We do not present an original line as a quote from a real person, and we do not present a reconstructed or paraphrased line as a real quote.

What we never do

We never invent an attribution. We never present a reconstructed line as a real quote. We never copy another site’s collection. And we never publish an article without checking it first — for duplicates, for wrong attributions, and for whether the content is genuinely useful to the reader.

Corrections

If a quote is wrongly attributed, a line is wrong, or anything on the site is inaccurate, please tell us through our Contact page. We check reported errors and fix them. Where a correction changes the meaning of an article, we note it.

How AI is used

Drafts on CrownQuote are prepared with AI assistance. Every draft is then checked by a human editor against its sources before it is published — no article goes live unchecked. AI is a drafting tool here, not a publisher: verification, attribution decisions and the final check are human work.
